A New 5 week session of Saturday & Sunday bellydance classes with Colleen is starting up on January 7th & 8th at Vitality Bellydance & Wellness Studio in Bloomfield. Classes are suited to dancers of all levels. Wether you are just starting out in your bellydance journey, or a seasoned dancer, classes are designed to refine, refresh, and introduce something new and exciting to your pursuit of this fun, fulfilling art. 12pm - 1pm
Improvisatonal Tribal Style Bellydance
- Improvisational Tribal Style Bellydance is an improvised dance style created on the spot by utilizing a body of shared movement vocabulary. Students will learn a varied movement lexicon and will learn to dance spontaneously by cuing new movements with the turn of the head or a gesture of the hands. Our ITS movement vocabulary is created uniquely for Vitality Studio, utilizing bellydance props such as zils (finger cymbals), veils, fans, and skirts. Drop ins welcome!
1pm - 2pm
Mixed Level Modern Bellydance
Enjoy a deep study of bellydance technique, breaking down fundamentals for a clear understanding, and explore movement vocabulary with short, fun combinations. Reinforce, refine and refresh. Become familiar with the history and trends of bellydance through classroom discussion. This class is perfect for those who are new to bellydance, or for the experienced dancer wishing to strengthen their technique.

- this Mixed Level class is perfect for all dancers. This class includes cmprehensive breakdowns of technique, layering, and traveling steps. We'll put it all together in a fun, complete dance to really get us moving, shimmying, and having fun with this compelling, graceful style. Drop ins welcome!
1:30pm - 2:30pm
Bellydance Prop Lab
In this 5 week session, we will focus on dancing with Assaya (cane). Experience the fun of dancing with some of the many fun props bellydance offers, learn proper alignment, and build strength to execute safe, graceful, compelling movement. We will complete our 5 weeks by learning a complete dance with our assayas. Bring your own cane, or borrow or purchase one at the studio!
Students must have completed at least one session of a basic bellydance class at Vitality or elsewhere to participate in this class. Registration required, no drop ins.
